Get to Know About Squawk

Squawk is a fast family game built around a noisy bird and a surprise pop. You roll a die and press the hen as instructed, hoping the shell bursts and drops a token. You crack the egg and keep the chicks you reveal. It works best with two to four people, suits ages four and up, and wraps in about fifteen minutes.

The set gives you a sturdy hen, a pop-open egg, a simple die, and a pile of round tokens. Setup takes little time. You snap the coop together, load the egg with a token, and place the bird on top. On your turn, you roll and press the hen the shown number of times. If the shell springs open, you reveal the token and add any chicks to your pile. If it stays shut, you pass the turn and wait for your next try.

The rules stay simple, and luck does most of the work, which suits young players. The squawk and sudden pop hold attention, and the short turns prevent waiting. For short sessions, you play to a set number of chicks. For a longer run, you count every token and declare the highest total. The parts handle regular play, and a light press helps the spring last.
